Very Rev. Fr. Vincent Wambugu
General Secretary
Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops

On behalf of the Kenya Catholic Secretariat, the General Secretariat of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, I thank God and all of you in appreciation of this historical gathering of Principals of Catholic High Schools.  I am personally happy to be part of this event and look forward to fruits without limits.  This appreciation cannot be complete without recognition of the Religious Congregations both here present or otherwise, who founded Schools in this country and all of you for consequently sustaining the said schools in word and the spirit of the Founders.

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa will therefore find a place in the annals of history, for hosting this first ever Conference of Principals of Catholic High Schools, with all the envisaged outcomes including the celebration of our strong foundation and the focus into the future.  I thank the Vice-Chancellor on this special occasion.

As we may all be aware, the Conference of Catholic Bishops in Kenya is committed to supporting Catholic Schools that you head, in a bid to ensure that they are anchored in the Gospel of Christ, the Educator perExcellence.  This is by ensuring that Schools continue to be not only places for learning but also communities of love, care, selflessness and mutual sharingto brighten the academic giants that you will continue to be.
Over the years, our schools headed by you, have set records in academic excellence topped up with character formation ensuring that the society at the end of the learning process, receives back not only educated and learned people but well-formed citizens ready to take their place of responsibility in the society.  Obviously, in such an undertaking there is always room to do more including engaging in new strategies to counteract the adverse effects resulting from a world that has shrunk into a Global Village.

I assure you of the support of KCCB, through its very able Commission for Education and Religious Education. This will enable the Catholic Schools to continue this tradition of excellence.  Indeed, this is a Commission with outstanding leadership and focus with an impeccable performance record.
This gathering is a precious opportunity for even better performance and results in future.
Allow me to wish you God’s choicest blessings in your reflections in the next three days of this Conference and continued success in your various schools.
It is now my duty and honour to welcome and present to you His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, the Chairman of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops to address us.

Very Rev. Fr. Vincent Wambugu
General Secretary
