Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year

Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year

Fellow Kenyans, Christmas – the day we mark the birth of Jesus Christ, our saviour and redeemer, is here with us again.

We acknowledge, that Christ’s birthday this year comes in the backdrop of dark clouds of terror that have seen hundreds of Kenyans, most of them Christians – die in cold blooded executions by people who seek to deliberately edge the country towards religious intolerance and hatred.

And as we celebrate Christmas this year, amidst all these security challenges that our Nation is going through, let us pause and ask ourselves – What would Christ have done? What would Christ have said if there were terror attacks during his time? If his followers were singled out from buses, work places and shot in cold blood?

He would have said: do not revenge…vengeance does not belong to you.

This is our Christmas message to you – whenever you face violence, counter it with peace,  whenever you face hatred, counter it with love, be your brothers’ and sisters’ keepers – no matter what faith they profess.

Above all, let us use this Christmas to strengthen the bonds that bind us in our families, and emulate the holy family which nurtured Jesus Christ, whose birthday we are celebrating this season.

May God’s love touch our hearts this Christmas season. May it help us to appreciate the value of every human person, irrespective of their religion, age, race or tribe.

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. May the graces of this holy season be with you now and into the new year 2015.

God bless you. God Bless Kenya
